HARLEKIN BLANKET is knit flat back and forth using intarsia. Intarsia is a way to knit bigger sections in a contrasting colour in a single colour background. This is what creates the HARLEKIN blanket.
You only knit with one colour at a time. At the colour changes, the colours are twisted around each other to avoid gaps in the finished work. Every colour uses 1 skein in the appropriate colour. The colour changes are executed by placing the colour you come from above the new colour – this is done on both the right side (RS) and the wrong side (WS) of the work.
TIP! Rather than using the full skein for all 9 colours, you can wind small balls of approximately 7 g.
By knitting intarsia you avoid the long floats on the wrong side that you would get by knitting the same motif in stranded knitting (see the last picture, to see the back of the blanket).
The blanket is knitted in ØKOLOGISK HVERDAGSULD
